Skittery Grass is a unique compilation of informal poetry, rhymes and chants, known and used, chiefly by boys, both in out of the primary school playground of the village of Port Isaac in North Cornwall, England in the immediate post-war years. Each piece in the compilation is accompanied by a description, a story or an anecdote dealing with its derivation. The approach is one of nostalgic humour. It may not be enjoyed by prudes. Most of the pieces in the compilation may have probably not appeared in print previously. |
